babes in boyland presents

Bib/Oa: How do you manage with your kid, then?
Corin: It's hard, it's very hard. sometimes he comes on tour. He went to a lot of the American tour. I brought him along to Mexico. It is really difficult to travel with a two and a half year old. And Europe, forget it, 10 hours on a plane, no way, so he's staying with my husband, for 2 weeks. I miss him.

Bib/Oa: Would you say you went from Riot Grrl to Riot woman then? Are you getting tired of this label and then of people asking you this question? Do you think things are changing?
Corin: yes and yes. I think things are changing in the way people see us. They now see we have different facets through our band, it is not just about one ideology, or an agenda. it is about 3 human beings that are pretty complex and I think feminism is a big part of Sleater-Kinney, but it is part of these other things that are around too. Hopefully we convey that through our music.

Bib/Oa: Maybe when you grow older you also grow less angry and you do not try and change things beyond what is quite close to you
Corin: : I think every time we go on stage, it is very powerful, no matter what context. I think it affects people to see women on stage together

Bib/Oa: And it is also very inspiring for girls
Corin: Yeah. We all volunteered to a rock'n'roll camp for girl this Summer and it was amazing. It was such an inspiring thing to be part of it. Thee are like 8 year olds, learning to play guitar. They are wild, brats, eager.... thy are all those great things that you forget about, that you were when you were like 8 years old. it was really great to be around that energy, feel wild and free. It is good to remember that.

Bib/Oa: What about Cadallaca?
Corin: It is in a deep hiatus. I just can't, Sleater-Kinney is taking a lot of my time right now. We are all very busy too. Sts is touring all the time and so is Sarah Dougher, so it's ok. We'll have a reunion some day, it will be really fun, we'll sped most of our time just dressing. That' all that it' about: getting dressed, we don't really practice.

Bib/Oa: When did you start making a living out of your music?
Corin: When Janet joined the band, probably. For Dig Me Out.

Bib/Oa: Was being in a band and living from it your secret teenage wish?
Corin: no, I wanted to be a documentary film maker. Isn't it funny? I wanted to be a documentary film maker and I end up marrying one instead. I miss making documentary films, so who knows? But I am not really that good with a camera, plus I am having way too much fun playing music.
