babes in boyland on the air
babes in boyland presents

Bib : What do your live performances look like? Are you on your own or do you have musicians? If so, how did you meet them?
Milkymee : Yes, I am usually on my own on stage in Sweden, but I play with musicians in France. Florent and Sacha, of course, but also my brother Boulder dDash. The line-up is moving and changing but its core remains the same. I like to play with new people on a regular basis. One night, I met a boy at a tram stop in Sweden. He had a guitar and we sang together while waiting for the tram. His name is Eric Ramsey, the song is on myspace.
I love performing live. I think that all the gigs I had on my own in Sweden helped me relax. When I speak swedish on a stage, in front of people, I feel like everything I say turns into a joke anyway. I like playing in the most minimal conditions possible, have acoustic gigs makes the atmosphere warmer, more intimate. There are no ideal conditions, though, it works as a whole. However, and to be straight forward, the gigs where everything is planned and goes by the book are my least favourite ones. I like the chance factor, the possible mistakes that live performance allow, the beauty emerging from these cracks in the easel.

Bib : Do you know the girls you will be performing with that night? Do you follow the "female scene" generally speaking, or do you look at the musical landscape as a whole, beyond gender?
Milkymee : I remember Elli Medeiros' hit very well, from when I was a little girl. I don't really know what she is doing now. I really like Vale Poher, whom I met on myspace. I do not know Andy, not Diving.
I am usually more interested in what women do, because I like their voices and their sensibility touches me more directly. Besides they kiss better than the boys, as everyone knows...ahahah. Though my music is pretty calm now, I came to music with Catpower, Sonic Youth, Bikini Kill, Hole, L7 and the likes ....
