OA: Have you been to some kind of Ladyfest that has some dodgy sponsors? Like MTV or something like that?
EB: Well, you had it, right? Where was is...Sweden??
OA: Have you ever encountered this?
H: No, not that I know. Maybe I just didn't notice... V: What was funny is that we got a lot of good publicity. And of course we did the effort to email the press release around, and we got a lot of response I didn't really expect. Like 3 fm, it's a radio station, I think the most listened to in the whole Netherlands. They called and so it might be something to try and do something with next year. Yeah, it is possible. The more you get female artists to...if you get it on the radio it's even wider and bigger. And you can give them a bigger audience. EB: But that's just a way of thinking about it, because...I know being underground is very cool. You spread your music in front of a big audience, it doesn't have to be Top 40 music, like Madonnaish, but I think you can spread your music and do your best and adapt a little bit. Just give in a little bit. To broaden the range of....
OA: But don't you think it's some kind of romantic idea that if you are broke, you are underground, and if you start making money from what you do, you're a sell out?
EB: You think I'm a sell out??
OA: No, not at all! But don't you think it's an issue and something to...like money is dirty if you get money...
H: But I think it's like this: You can make music and you can make your zine, and you can do it all for free, while you're flipping burger at McDonalds?? Yeah, you can do that. But you can also make your zine and make your music and ask for some money for that. And do that full time! And there is nothing wrong with that. That's a good thing!
OA: Yes, don't you think. It's a completely romantic idea to keep people down?
H: Yeah. I agree! EB: No, it's not, it's a...we have to spread the message as deep into the public as possible. H: That's why the MTV thing that you mention, as long as you can get your message across to as much people as you can, why not? If they offer to help, why not? That's my idea.
OA: And it might make MTV better?
All: That's for sure/good chance!
OA: Thanx so much for the interview and for the Ladyfest, it was so much fun. We are definitely coming back next year!
